Serenade

Your eyes,
A mix of nostalgia,
Euphoria and pain
That soft, gentle
Short moment,
Unintentional
Irrevocable,
It froze time,
Right through the veins
Oblivious
To the world
Outside
Speaking
A language
Unknown
Melody after melody
Short
Bittersweet
Moments
Carved
In destiny’s timeline
You were but a stranger
Who’s echoes are embraced
In dreams
Your voice no longer
Hums the melodies
Your heart sings
A broken harp
Never a full circle,
Coming a little
Too late

Blogging as a Friend

Blessed with the gift of space-time manipulation, with the ability to travel beyond time and space; to subsist long after the contemporaries had gone; to be in two places at the same time, this being is not imaginary but imaginative, not a sorcerer nor a magician but an ordinary extraordinary being called, a prolific writer.

Writers are born with the ability to communicate, reach out to the audience and even touch lives.  A writer can exist and influence different people from one generation to another; and that is no magic trick.  Published works can be read and passed on even long after the writer has left the face of the planet.

As the world discovered technological innovations including the information super highway or the internet, writers found a niche in the virtual world through what is now popularly called blogging.

Web logging or blogging is a free-form art that allows the writer to convey his/her soul in a manner that the writer chooses, be it though a news blog, a photo blog, a public information blog, a literary blog – letters, poetry, essays, and short stories.

Blogging used to be just like an online diary, an extension of one’s thoughts and personal views; an outlet where ideas are poured into and emotions are given a breath of fresh air.  It’s like seeing one’s life printed in black and white.

Fast forward, blogging opened new pathways for writers.  Blogging allowed writers to become published and read all over the world with just a few clicks.  Before the world became technologically advanced, having one’s work published takes a rigorous process, but with blogging, a writer can publish a blog in the internet using his/her own page or account or websites that allow free hosting.

Like a best friend, blogging allows a writer to grow and to develop his/her gift of words by offering encouragements and praises or by giving critiques and suggestions through the comments posted by blog readers.

A best friend sticks with you through thick and thin, the same goes for blogging.  When one is at the peak or momentum of an accomplishment or a feat, he/she can write it in a blog; when down or feeling low, feelings can likewise be poured out into a blog, creating a positive channel instead of being eaten by negative thoughts.

Best friends help you in times of need.  Blogging nowadays can also be one’s source of income.  For some they consider it as a part-time work, but for others, blogging has become their bread and butter. Blogging as a job, allows writers to spend quality time with people who matter the most.  Parents can be with their kids most of the time to monitor their growth and watch their developments since blogging can be done at the comfort of their home.  Blogging serves as an alternative way to earn and at the same time, make the most out of those quality moments.

Blogging, to top it all, akin to a best friend, allows a writer to be his/her own creative self, without pretensions or apprehensions, and to continue doing what he/she loves to do – to write, to blog about anything under the glorious sun.  Blogging is definitely the writer’s new best friend.
